Apple blocks update for AI features in email app

Apple is blocking an update to BlueMail that wanted to add an AI feature.

Apple is delaying an update to BlueMail email app, which had planned to release an update. The update includes an upgrade with features from OpenAI's GPT-3 language model, according to BlueMail co-founder Ben Volach.

Volach accuses Apple of unfairly attacking BlueMail. The reason for delaying the update is that the AI can provide unpredictable responses. Therefore, the app should be freely available in the App Store for users 17 and older, he said. This measure could affect the number of potential users.

Volach writes that other apps have released exactly the same features in the App Store, such as Snapchat, but have no age restriction.
