"I don't want to be a doomsayer, but the worst may be yet to come" ~Bill Gates
Bill Gates has said in an interview that the worst of the pandemic is yet to come, as there is a five percent chance that a more dangerous virus variant will come.

In January 2022, there was a real explosion in corona cases, especially in Germany and the USA. Nearly 45% of all infections were detected from January 1, 2022 to the present. Growth was nearly exponential during this time, as active covid cases peaked in January 2022.
One proposal from Gates would be to build a global surveillance team that can act quickly and make rapid decisions with governments worldwide to detect and contain outbreaks early. This team would be composed of epidemiologists and virologists. However, this would require large investments from the WHO and its member countries.
But the Microsoft co-founder stressed at a TED Talk that the WHO would have to spend up to a billion dollars a year. This is a small sum, however, when compared to the total financial damage from this pandemic of twelve trillion dollars worldwide.
In an interview with the Financial Times, he stated that the world was not prepared for the Corona pandemic due to the amount of misinformation and access to vaccines worldwide. His goal, therefore, is for Covid-19 to be the last pandemic.
