The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is inviting many more hardware CEOs this year than it did last year. By contrast, the number of representatives from Internet companies shrank as Xi Jinping cracked down on multibillionaires in recent months.
Tencent's CEO is not represented this year. Instead, many producers of chips are invited to attend the meeting. Xi Jinping has been focusing on domestic chip production since the ongoing trade war with the U.S. and has already announced help for the industry.
At this meeting, new members will be elected for the political consultation for the next 5 years.
