Italvolt wants to license fast-charging batteries for Israeli startup StoreDot.

Competition for Asia in the European market; Image: Italvolt

Italvolt is planning a €3 billion battery factory in Italy and is already raising money from investors. Among them is the Italian government. The factory will be a serious competitor for Asian battery manufacturers.

The factory is needed by StoreDot. The company is developing fast-charging batteries and is planning a battery that will be able to drive 161km with 2 minutes of charging time. The battery is intended to provide an option for customers who would otherwise not want to buy an EV due to the long charging time.

Potential customers for the battery include Daimler, Mercedes-Benz, BP, VinFast, Volvo, Polestar and Samsung.
