Instagram has announced that influencers will no longer be able to pin their products in their livestream starting March 16. Meta wants to focus on products and features that have value for users of the platform. The Shopping tab in the app was already removed this month. Live Shopping will be disabled for Facebook in October.

Instagram will continue to allow users to create and publish their own store on the app. Meta is investing in new ways to monetize users' products through Reels, Stories and advertising.

Meta is currently the only major company to abandon Live Shopping. Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube (through a partnership with Shopify), and Amazon are investing heavily in live shopping on their own app.
