The software developer Unity enters into a partnership with Microsoft. This also has indirect benefits for Microsoft.

Unity is an engine used for game development and real-time 3D models. Among others, the following games were developed with the engine:
Beat Saber
Fall Guys
Pokémon Go
Cities Skylines
Cuphead
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
The partnership with Microsoft primarily involves the Azure cloud infrastructure. With access to Azure, game developers should be able to reach their target audience more easily and can more easily publish games for Xbox consoles and PCs. Real-time 3D models on the Unity platform are also expected to be simplified through the cloud.
Microsoft is a strategically astute partner for Unity. This is because 75% of all desktop and laptop computers use Windows as their operating system. This makes it easier for game developers to publish their games to the Microsoft Store and reach their target audience.
Xbox also plays a role here. Because Microsoft owns one of the most popular console manufacturers in the world. Next to Sony's PlayStation series (57.54%), Xbox owns 42.15% of the market share. So Microsoft can ensure a higher market share in the long run by publishing games from Unity users on Xbox.
