Nokia takes over MTN's next contract. In 2017, Nokia was awarded its first contract by the second-largest telecom company, MTN, in Africa. The contract was to roll out the 2G, 3G and 4G networks in Nigeria. MTN is now signing another contract with Nokia in South Africa.

Nokia will upgrade the existing 2G, 3G and 4G network and further expand the 5G network across 2800 sites in South Africa. A financial amount of the partnership was not disclosed by both companies.
