The already immense Gigafactory in Austin is getting another $770 million expansion. The manufacturer has submitted plans to the state of Texas. The upgrade will add new capacity to the existing factory:

  1. "Die shop", $59 Million

  2. "Cell 1", $368 Million

  3. "Drive Unit", $85 Million

  4. "Cathode", $260 Million

  5. "Cell Test Lab", $3.7 Million

Construction is scheduled to start in the coming weeks. An end date was not mentioned. We can assume that Tesla needs the expansion to create capacity for the Cybertruck.
