Twitter adds encrypted messages and archives inactive accounts

Elon Musk today revealed details about calls and encrypted messages.

Elon Musk has announced new features for the platform on Twitter that will be implemented as part of "Twitter 2.0 The Everything App." These features of the new app include encrypted messages and calls, as well as payments and long tweets.

As of Wednesday, users without a phone number can communicate with each other via audio or video call, while direct messages are now securely encrypted. In addition, Musk announced the archiving of inactive accounts, but without providing more specific details.

It remains to be seen whether these new features will make Twitter a serious competitor for Meta and other social media platforms that already offer similar functions.
