The president of Mexico said today that Tesla will build a new factory in the Monterrey industrial complex in the north of the country. Previously, there were rumors that Tesla was planning a factory in Canada. Nothing will come of that for now.
Lopez Obrador says the cars in the factory will be made with recycled water. Last year, the water-scarce region suffered droughts that left many households without water. A new 100-kilometer pipeline is being built for it to increase the supply of fresh water.
Lopez Obrador also promises many new jobs with Tesla's factory. Tesla will release more on its plans in Mexico tomorrow, the president said.
